Joyful Docs

Custom Domains

Send from your own email address. Pro feature.

What you get

Instead of sending from you@joyful.to, send from newsletter@yourdomain.com. You can also host your public newsletter page at newsletter.yourdomain.com.

Setup

Go to Domains in the sidebar and click Add Domain. Enter your domain and pick an email prefix (like newsletter or hello).

Then add the DNS records we show you. There are two required records:

  1. Ownership verification — a TXT record that proves you own the domain
  2. DKIM authentication — a TXT record that lets email providers trust your messages

If you want to host your public page on your domain, add a CNAME record pointing to proxy.joyful.to.

Verification

After adding the DNS records, click Verify. DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate, but usually it's faster.

Pending Verified DKIM Verified

Both ownership and DKIM need to show as verified before you can send.

Common issues

Verification stuck: Double-check you copied the record values exactly. Some DNS providers need the full domain in the host field, others just the subdomain part.

DKIM record too long: Some providers split long TXT records. Check with your DNS provider's docs.

Emails going to spam: Wait 24 hours after verification for reputation to establish. Also make sure your content isn't triggering spam filters.

Custom hosting not loading: Verify the CNAME points to proxy.joyful.to. SSL certificates take a few minutes to provision after the DNS verifies.
